Dr. Bob litchfield

Orthopedic surgeon, specializing in knees and shoulders

Dr. Litchfield is an Orthopedic Surgeon whose primary location of practice is at the University of Western Ontario. His primary area of clinical interest is the management of activity related injuries and conditions of the shoulder and knee.

Dr. Litchfield grew up in Huntsville, but moved away to pursue his medical aspirations, which eventually landed him at UWO, where he is the Medical Director of the Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic; a clinic that provides world class care to athletes of all levels.

Despite living in London, Ontario, he has maintained strong ties to our community as he has a cottage here and is actively involved at Hidden Valley Ski Resort. He is a physician member to the Canadian Alpine Ski time, and has gone to the Olympics several times a member of the core medical team.

In addition to being the Medical Director at the Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic, he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at The University of Western Ontario since 2002.

Dr. Litchfield is active in several professional societies including the American Shoulder and Elbow Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Herodicus Society, the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the Canadian Academy of Sports Medicine.  

Bob received his medical degree from the University of Western Ontario where he completed his orthopaedic residency. Following fellowships in paediatric orthopaedics at Auckland Children’s Hospital in New Zealand and at Adelaide Children’s Hospital in South Australia, he completed an orthopaedic sport medicine fellowship at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado. He returned to the University of Western Ontario and London Health Sciences Centre, University Hospital in 1994.
