The body is a complex system of hinges, levers and pulleys. Changes in one area of your body can affect another area. So, often the area where you are feeling pain, may not be the source of the problem.

Using their expertise, Dr. Trenholm and Dr. Mikhail will diagnose the issue and offer the most beneficial treatment modalities and exercise therapies.

Note: a referral from your Primary Care Provider is required for a Sport and Exercise Medicine consultation

Chiropractic therapy emphasizes a hands on approach using manual therapies to treat and reactivate muscular, bone, joint and neurologic conditions. Through joint manipulation and mobilization, prescribed exercise programs, focal muscle release techniques (ART) and muscle stimulation techniques, your body will begin to move more freely and with less pain.

To improve the longevity of the treatments, we prescribe strength and conditioning programs that are designed for each individual with their condition in mind. This means that we not only treat your condition, but will make the treatment effects last longer and prevent recurrences.

Chiropractic therapy

Physiotherapy will assist you to restore, maintain and maximize your strength, function, movement and overall well-being. The terms "physiotherapy" and "physical therapy" mean the same thing and are used interchangeably, as are the terms “physiotherapist” and “physical therapist”.

Physiotherapists have in-depth knowledge of how the body works and specialized hands-on clinical skills to assess, diagnose and treat symptoms of illness, injury and disability. Physiotherapy includes rehabilitation, as well as prevention of injury, and promotion of health and fitness. Physiotherapists often work in teams with other health professionals to help meet an individual's health care needs.

The FRC® system is designed to help you improve your functional range of motion and strength through that range of motion. This, in turn, will increase the stability and strength of your joints and learning to improve the way your nervous system functions to control your overall body movement. This leads to a reduction in pain and a functional way of rehabilitating your body as a whole, rather than rehabilitating one body area at a time.

Acupuncture is a soft tissue treatment modality in which small needles are inserted into specific points on the body, which helps to reset and activate the neurologic and muscular systems in a way that the body can start to function normally again. More specifically, Sports Medicine Acupuncture incorporates principles from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western Sports Medicine in order to view the patient’s injury from a truly integrated perspective.

shockwave therapy

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment modality that applies of a series of high-energy percussions to your injured muscles and tendons which have been proven to accelerate both acutely and chronically injured tissues. It works by stimulating the metabolism in the area and improving blood circulation to facilitate the healing and regeneration of damaged tissue. This form of treatment is very effective for repetitive strain disorders including plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, golfers elbow and rotator cuff tendinopathies.

Massage therapy is a hands on therapy to treat injuries through sport as well as a preventative treatment for dealing with the health of muscles and connective tissue, range of movement, muscle tone, balance and the transfer of power through the muscular chains in your body.
