Enhancing Recovery with Injection-Based Therapies
At Reactivate Muskoka, we offer advanced, evidence-based injection therapies to help reduce pain, promote healing, and improve mobility. While these injections can be effective on their own, we recognize that true, lasting recovery often requires addressing the underlying causes of pain and dysfunction.
That’s why we take a holistic approach, integrating injection-based treatments with acupuncture, shockwave therapy, chiropractic adjustments, exercise-based rehabilitation, massage therapy, and mobility work to support your body’s healing process from every angle.
Sportvis injections
What Is SportVis™?
SportVis™ is a special injection that helps your body heal tendon and ligament injuries. It contains a type of hyaluronic acid called STABHA™. This ingredient helps reduce pain and supports healing by keeping the injured area hydrated, cushioned, and lubricated.
It works by sticking to the fibrin matrix — a kind of natural “scaffold” that forms at the site of an injury — and helps your body repair itself more effectively.
What Injuries Can SportVis™ Treat?
SportVis™ is used for injuries like:
Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis):
For people with elbow pain that’s lasted more than 3 months.Ankle Sprains:
Best for Grade 1 or 2 sprains (mild to moderate). It works best if given within 48 hours of the injury.Rotator Cuff Injuries:
This is a newer use of SportVis™. It can help heal partial tears in the shoulder, especially when used along with physiotherapy.
How Is the Injection Done?
A handheld ultrasound machine is used to find the exact injured area.
The skin is cleaned and dried.
A small amount of freezing medicine is used to numb the area.
Then, 1.2 mL of SportVis™ is injected near the injury.
A second injection is done the next week the same way to complete the treatment.
Are There Any Side Effects?
Most people do very well with SportVis™. Some people might notice a bit of redness where the needle went in, but this usually goes away on its own.
Serious side effects are very rare, but make sure to tell your doctor if you have any allergies before you get the injection.
What Helps the Injection Work Better?
To get the best results from SportVis™, it’s important to do rehab exercises and therapy after the injection.
Shockwave Therapy
This uses sound waves to:
Break up bad tissue from earlier injury
Increase blood flow to help your body heal faster
Physiotherapy
Working with a physiotherapist helps you:
Get stronger
Move better
Avoid re-injury
For example, if you had an ankle sprain, your physio might give you strengthening exercises after the injection. You should listen to your body and not push through pain while healing.
